Description
Villa K is a modern villa in Valtocado, in the province of Málaga on the Costa del Sol. Completed in 2020, it occupies a 2055 m² plot and offers 400 m² of usable area, four bedrooms and four bathrooms. Its south- and west-facing orientation provides views of the sea, mountains, surrounding pine trees and the pool.
The project was created in collaboration with Marion Regitko Architects and UK-based designers Soo Wilkinson and John Grant of Igloo Design. The cohesive approach to the interior and exterior, together with the continuity of materials and finishes, creates a seamless flow throughout the property. The villa is arranged around a raised viewing platform that surrounds the upper level. The lower level is partly cut into the hillside, allowing the building to blend naturally with the surrounding rock.
The interior features an open-plan layout connecting the kitchen, dining area and lounge. Large sliding glass doors link the living spaces with the surrounding landscape. The living room includes a large fireplace and a custom-made sofa. A large wooden staircase forms the main architectural feature on the way into the central part of the house.
The lower level contains a gym, cinema room, service areas and an exterior entrance foyer. The various parts of the house open onto the surrounding terrace and viewing platform. Views of the pool from inside the villa enhance the privacy of the outdoor area.
The villa includes systems designed for energy efficiency and comfort:
- solar panels on the roof generate electricity for daytime use
- air conditioning and underfloor heating are powered by high-efficiency heat pumps
- natural cross-ventilation helps protect the interior from overheating
- vertical and horizontal shading elements limit solar penetration
- electric-car charger
